Reckoning vs Imp Judgement

I'm considering dropping PoJ

For 2-3 talent points which would give you a better bang for the buck 3/5 Reckoning or 2/2 Imp Judgement or some combination of the 2?

I often hear 1/2 Imp judgement is optimal for spell rotation.
and 3/5 reckoning has a good proc rate.

Is reckoning a 3/5 talent or none at all or is 1/5 or 2/5 still better than 0/5?

i.e. would 2/5 Reckoning + 1/2 Imp Judgement be the best use of talents when dropping PoJ?

I never noticed reckoning procing lately but then again im at the T5/T6 content level.

I use to be a fan of it but actually seeing how often it procs(or how much it doesnt) I don't even think its worth the points.

2/2 improved judgement is a MUST IMO and any tankadin who doesnt have it gimps their threat, even with the whole "its better as 0/2 or 1/2 for rotation" doesn't do it justice as it thats 1 more judgement every 40 seconds(10x4 vs 8x5) which is 600+ damage with 3/3 RF is like 1200 more threat not to mention crucial when picking up adds ect.

I personally like PoJ over spell warding but its personal preference, I sit with 0/5 reckoning right now and am not missing it but if your on the lower end of the content spectrum its superior to one hand spec but thats only if your doing the first 25 mans and kara as your usual raids.

IMO go with 2/2 imp judgement ALWAYS, reckoning if you see fit for your gear/content level and dropping PoJ for +threat talents will always be better, PoJ is for mitigation(speed boost is nice) so focus on it when you have TPS where you want it and need more damag soak abilitys.

Ideally I would drop anticipation and go with 5/5 reckoning 5/5 one hand spec 2/2 imp judgement but thats only when your gear has so much defense your hitting over 510 from gear alone with no gem slots for +defense but thats like T6+ content only.

I have 3/5 Reck, 1/2 Imp Judge, 3/3 PoJ. I used to be a huge supporter of 2/2 Imp Judge, but stole a point when I wanted to put something into Reck.

I honestly don't miss it.

I would recommend trying it to see how it works for you. It's nice to have it available sooner, but given the wonky nature of our tanking it's sometimes hard to get into a perfect button rotation such that something isn't clashing with something else at some point, which cascades down the line ...

I don't think that 2/2 imp judgment is worth the complexity and confusion of the threat rotation that it causes. For pure threat, reckoning is better. Don't bother with "I didn't notice" or "It doesn't seem to proc often"; humans suck for noticing things. Rely in WWS.

Against bosses, at best imp judgment will result in 1.5% increased threat. At best. The first point is worth .9%, the second .6%. Reckoning over time will result in about a 1% threat boost per point depending on your level of avoidance. If you have 60% avoidance it will not be as good. If you face bosses with only a 4 second swing timer it won't be as good. But it will otherwise be that good. Imp judgment tends to have more utility than reckoning, but it is definitely not as good threat-wise as reckoning.

I find imp judgment to be the more useful of the two, not because of the increased threat, but of being able to judge a little more frequently. DPS kills something, I want to be able to start throwing JoRs as fast as I can on the next target. If I want to change my judgement from crusader to wisdom after a couple threat rotations, being able to be judging JoR or SoV in 16 seconds after the previous one vs. 20 seconds. that said, Reckoning is a good talent and if I had 5 more points to spend I'd put them there, I just find the aforementioned utility more useful than random proc chances.

Lately Ive been trying lots of different talent choices.
Tried PoJ and liked it. But...Boars speed is fine
Tried 1/5 reckoning did not like it.
Tried 3/5 reckoning with no spellwarding. loved reck, hated no sw.
Tried 1/2, 0/2 and 2/2 imp judgements. 1/2 is the best.

Now Ive gone back to 0/49/12 with all the standard talents, no reckoning and 2/2 imp judgements. This is the most comfortable so far although the 2/2 imp judgements is a little redundant and I just didnt know where else exactly to put that extra point. Toss it in reckoning if you want either way but I like this build at my T4.5 progression.

and if you are doing your raid boss rotation you will hardly ever be judging at every Cooldown opportunity so the 2/2 isnt really more threat, but it will make it more likely that the CD is up when you might need it for say grabbing a straggler.

honestly i went to hyjal the other day tanking the trash and having 1 point in reckoning, it proc'd a lot...given i had like multiple mobs on me Razz

Useful for trash farming too...also since I usually AOE in 5 man heroics, it's proc is somewhat significant.

I might dip into imp judgement, i think it'll be a quicker way to judge crusader on a mob, then judge righteousness for a better threat lead on the DPS.

Paladins are aweful at tanking anything that casts spells, so usually in 25 man raids, i'm not given the spell dmg mob, unless I have to take just 1...and even then it's not that big of a deal to heal up a 19k HP raid buffed paladin. Hence i sorta dropped spell warding and POJ.

I have recently gone to 3 reckoning 1 Imp Judgement, and I don't feel the loss of 1 pt in IMP Judgement, my total TPS didn't suffer, and it allows me to down-tank on easier contect like Kara and Heroics w/o having a lot of downtime (you would be amazed what 3 pts in reckoning get you with a few mobs on you, if you use Seal of Wisdom and remove your shield for a few seconds)

I see a lot of people nabbing 3/5 Reckoning, and I've been itching to fit Reckoning back into my tank build. From my usual prot build (0/49/12, core prot talents plus Precision, Spell Warding and Kings), I've been thinking of sacrificing 1 point of Improved Judgment (dropping me to 1/2) and Kings to invest in Reckoning, making my new split 0/50/11 with 2/5 Reckoning. Is there a reason everyone's going for 3/5? Is 6% that much more effective than 4%?
