Aubade's kitty poll.

Re: Aubade's kitty poll.

My problem with a lot of those names it that they are too long. You never want to go over 3 syllables with pet names.

Name it Vanifae or Invisusira.

Edit:
I'm actually a fan of naming pets after foods (I have one dog named Kiwi), Pokemon are nice too. Maybe like Marshmallow or Jigglypuff. Another great thing is to name animals after different animals, like Narwhal or Squirrel. Also, I have no clue why, but I like the pet name Foofy.

Invis is an exception to the rules (also I believe that is 5 syllables). Until I typed that out, I always thought the name was "Invisuria", which I think sounds a lot better than what the name actually is.

Re: Aubade's kitty poll.

At the risk of sounding like a mindless egotist, 'Panzerdin' is only 3 syllables, and shortens nicely to 2.

And 'Invisusira' is 3 to 5 depending on pronunciation. It could be 'In-visu-sira' 'In-vis-us-ira' or something along the lines of 'in-vis-u-si-ra'.

Uh, no. The simplest way to tell a syllable from another is by the motions of your mouth. At least in english, it's "in vi su si ra"

I'm going to troll you.

Example 1: 'In-visu-sira'

"Visu" cannot be 1 syllable. Nor can "sira". Both vowels at the end of what you called a syllable separate them into two extra syllables. That makes it five syllables.

Example 2: 'In-vis-us-ira'

Again, you can't make "ira" one syllable no matter how hard you try or how fast you try to pronounce it. 5 syllables.

Example 3: 'in-vis-u-si-ra'

That's five syllables.

I'm pretty sure Snake has it right that the syllables are vi-su, not vis-u-

I was trolling Panzerdin's examples. Not Snakes.

However, to further your comment. "vis" can be a syllable, but it's the addition of "u" that makes it two syllables. So yes, "vi-su" are the two syllables, not "vis-u". Although, by pronouncing it, you can easily make it sound "vis-u" since it sounds like a Zed in the middle there anyway.

Well Cally is supposed to be the shortform for Caligula.

What IS everyone's cat's names anyway? Mine's is called Nemo.

Ohhhh, this is going to be fun for me.

I'm going to be following the format of (Official Name/Typically Used Name/Other Nicknames)

In order of age:
Pain In The Ass Cat/Tack/Tacky Hammers, Hammercat, Munkin, Handsome Hammer Honeys (most of these courtesy of my wife)

Molly Moppet/Molly/Mobbles, Molly Wobbles, Wobblet, Princess

Tabitha/Bitha/Bissa, Baby Snack, Snacky Cat, Fat Lard, Her Fatness (The boy couldn't say "Baby Cat." It sounded like "Baby Sack" or Baby Snack"...which is where that came from. This was our first bottle-fed)

König Schneelilliputenierien die Erste/König/Rotters, Little White Bastard, Königy-cat

Madison Hellion von Flüffenmeister/Maddie/Bratty One

Yes...all of them are currently in residence with me.

Re: Aubade's kitty poll.

Two of my cats (Thomas and Harley) are orange in tone (as was Xander - Thomas's brother we had to put to sleep). So I call both of them at any given time "Pumpkin" because they are my pumpkin kitties.

that b goes together with the l. Vowels, along with being the center of syllables, attract consonants to them.

As for the other two, I can mangle them to fit nicely.
