Well, will it be the movie version of the cycle then? That'd explain why they said it's mostly on the alliance side, though the big guy Thrall will be there.

Who'll make Aegwyn?

Not to seem like a LotR ripoff, but Cate Blanchett

Re: Warcraft Movie Film Director

Uhm Aegwyn was more of a pasionate mentor , sorta like Gandalf , Galadriel was like a old wise elf with great wisdom

So maybe Cate Blanchett is not the best idea

The Street Fighter movie (the live action, not the anime) comes to mind, which actually caused physical pain to watch, and that egregious waste of film that was Super Mario Brothers...

Of course, most video games don't have the wealth of lore/backstory and general fantasy development as Warcraft, so I'm still optimistic that it will be good.

There are a few diamonds in the rough. Advent Children comes to mind. Hitman wasn't bad. And the animated SF movie was awesome. For that matter, the first Resident Evil was decent enough. Though those are all the ones I can think of and I've been trying to come up with films that don't suck for like 20 mins.

IMO Silent Hill was also a great movie. May be not perfect due to the short format, but at least the first half described very well the distress that flows in game.

Yes, the animated SF movie was good, but that wasn't a major theater released movie. Resident Evil was *ok*, kinda cheesy I thought, but it didn't make me want to gouge out my eyeballs. I didn't see any of the other movies mentioned, but perhaps the genre isn't as doomed as I thought :)

This is the only man that can play any male human character in WoW.

They will never be convincing enough. Make them too realistic you fall into the Uncanny Valley. Make them too cartoony it becomes a "kids" movie even if it isn't.

Live action or GTFO, heck it could be like the Beuwolf movie and just be green screened everything.

Video game movies based on video game plots tend to be bad. Video game movies that use the mythology of the game tend to not be horrible.

Re: Warcraft Movie Film Director

As much as I'd like to see a Warcraft themed movie, I am kinda worried about a couple points.

For one thing, warcraft graphics have always bordered on the cartoony side, so I'm curious as to how they'll pull off a live action movie while keeping it realistic.

And I honestly can't see how they'll pull off night elves without making them look ridiculous.

and I wish that they'd make movies about the first, second, and 3rd wars.

They couldn't make it in any of the warcraft games either.

And I want to see Gul'Dan's movie!
