Sad to say, I think this perfectly explains how much you respect your Boss, and work place.

It sounds to me like you've been unhappy, or don't much care about the job in the end anyway. I would recommend you find a new line of work , something you enjoy and WONT Fall asleep at, before you get fired. Getting fired puts a mark on your record, especially for something like this that shows laziness and disrespect.

People need all they can get in their favor these days to help find a new job with this economy. Don't make it any harder on yourself by pulling this kind of shit.

In short, I agree.

Get your shit together.

Re: Ever been caught sleeping at work?

I used to work 3rd shift at a hotel. It was SOP to sleep at work. My boss was even quite aware of it. I always got all my work done, always came in on time, and never had any complaints so she let me get away with it.

I even used it as leverage for her to let me bring in my computer so I could play EQ at night. She let me, because if I was playing a game, I was at least awake :)

Oh, also:

You remind me of this movie with Morgan Freeman who plays Russian roulette with a student and loses. It had two bullets in a six shooter, too.

It was Samuel L Jackson, movie was "187".

Great flick. Scary that it was written by a substitute teacher.

You should smoke some chronic too. So up-tight.

Re: Ever been caught sleeping at work?

Not at work, per se, but I have done that plenty of times as well, with less humorous results than this particular story.

Once when I was in radiology school, I fell asleep at my desk. Mind you, my school was quite small, with only about 12 students per class and only 2 classes. I was sitting in the front row of the small classroom where we took our anatomy & physiology tests. I had finished my test, and nodded off waiting for the rest of the class to finish. I was drinking a soda (Coke) and the surcace of our desks were not too terribly level.

So I'm napping, and I must have bumped my soda a bit because it starts sliding ever so slowly to the edge of my desk. I dont wake up until I hear that faint metallic 'clunk' as the soda hits the edge of my desk and starts to topple over. I wake up, sit bolt upright, and reflexivly lunge for my soda can. I caught the can at exactly the wrong angle and with WAY too much force and launch the thing straight at my instructor. I watch for a horrifyingly long time as the can sails through the air and explodes all over my teachers favorite white blouse, dousing her with the aforementioned soda for all the class to see.

It's no wonder my instructor hated me from that day on, but I did become a legend in my class. They bought me an alarm clock for my graduation gift.

Re: Ever been caught sleeping at work?

When I was in the Navy, I was in the Nuclear Power training school. Sometimes, the workload, and having to stay up late to do work, and then stay up LATER for stress relief (WoW/drinking/women/whatever your poison), you'd be so tired during the day. They had 3 or so podiums up in the back of each classroom so tired people could stand up.

Lets just say that one time I blanked out for a straight 15 minutes, don't remember any of it, but I had a full pages of notes, sloppily written. I wish I could do that again.

It's good to know how well qualified the people operating nuclear reactors are.

Re: Ever been caught sleeping at work?

Oh don't get me wrong, we were qualified beyond belief, but yeah, there are a lot of safety issues or slacking that would make a lot of government or military (Navy) officials CRINGE if they knew what I know. My time there is done though, with no incidents invoking Greenpeace, so I did ok =D

Btw, the people who leave the Navy after having been in this program are generally highly prized in the Power industry. So it's generally pretty good, but sometimes you have to weigh the importance of finishing maintenance 100% properly by the book, or get to sleep for an extra hour before you go on watch at 2:00am.

Re: Ever been caught sleeping at work?

Don't get me started on Greenpeace... I don't disagree with environmentalism per se, but they're even more full of shit than Bush was.

Yeah I agree, lol. I hated knowing that I served under Bush when there were so many Bush Lovers in service.

Re: Ever been caught sleeping at work?

The way I see it, the vigilance of your coworkers/managers/teachers effectively serves as a litmus test of sorts: if you're careless/drunk/sleepy/stoned/distracted enough to get caught, then you're probably careless/drunk/sleepy/stoned/distracted enough to make some serious work-related mistake.

If others can easily notice that you have a problem, then you probably do.
