I want to kill my healers

- Ask the raid leader to put a Blue Square on your head.
- Ask the raid leader to assign static healers to you who ONLY heal you
- Ask the raid leader to assign group healers to the group

We just installed something called VisualHeal in our guild. It works really really well, it will show the healers how much other healers are healing you for ( approximately ) and will help them not overheal you , and also not UNDERheal you by choosing the right heal.

I'm sure the healers do their best. Get more stamina ( healers love that ) and tell everyone that Paladin tanks tank differently than warrior tanks. Start with Karazhan tanking, bring only 2 healers and do 5man heroics with your guild healers. They will learn how to heal you in those easy instances. Then , when they have a bit more faith.

My tip : Don't try and be MT. Paladins are born offtanks, and that's what you do best. On fights where you don't need to offtank ( Gruul ) go healing and let the druid offtank. It just makes more sense.
Your warriors will respect you more because you make their lives so much easier, your DPS will respect you because you're the 'bestest' tank in the world ( they love paladin threatbuilding ) and your healers will love you coz they only have to heal you and not all those overDPS'ing warlocks and mages.

All in all , just accept you're an offtank for now, and a reasonable offhealer in situations that you can't OT, but make sure you get a shot at the gear. An offtank should always have equal rights to MT gear as a MT. If not , then maybe your problem doesn't lie in your wish to be MT, but more likely the MT loot distribution going to MT's only. ( and thus, your NEED to be MT to get some required OT loot )

Paladins are bred Main Tanks. This off tank talk is your opinion and I respect that however I disagree. There are quite a few people where who are main tanks for their guild (including me) who've progression tanked nearly everything.

This person's problem based entirely on what has been presented on these forums aren't based on the paladin's ability to tank, but on coordination or attitude issues with the healers.

Define "Offtank", and explani me why Blizzard acknowledged paladins need a bit more power in tanking raid bosses. They say all tank classes are viable for any tanking. Some better than others at specific conditions, but still viable.

Actually Mortehl, that was exactly what we do already. MT targets, healing assignment done twice in vent and chat, and ironically in this last case the MT healers confirmed they were healing the "MT" before the pull...
And again ironically, there's always a big blue square on my head in anything since the healers need to know where i am to position themselves.
And i don't really want to change guild, since i quite like this one, it's probably the best one i've found in 2 years of WoW, even if the other BT-MH horde guild on our server would pay thousands of golds to have me in (i'm the only tankadin doing something different than SSC-TK in my server)

Regarding the offtank-maintank thingie, our tank squad tries to use the "most effective" class as Main Tank. For example, i MT supremus because of Exorcism+Boomerang to pick him up. Our guild's MT is a warrior, i'm the backup MT for when he's not in raid, and we're fine with that. On most boss fights i don't main tank usually because there's something else to do (adds picking and such), but i'm able to tank anything if i ask to, i just let warriors do it even when i'm in raid since well, else they can't do anything, at least i can heal Smile

i would try running with specific healers in heroics, let them see how easy you are to heal, enough runs and they will be asking if you can tank instead of a warrior, or comments like "we're kinda short on healers, but it should be ok cause we have a pally tanking."

I think i've done enough heroics with this guild, i'm in it since 5 months or more, and i'm part of every progression raid since then Smile

Yeah, paladins are the worst offtanks of the whole bunch. Unless they're directly receiving damage, they're basically useless for generating threat (either reactively or because they're starved on mana regen). Druids are far better at being OT and it's much more of their 'natural' role if such a thing existed.

Paladins are okay tanks against most bosses and great tanks against some.

Regardless of all of that, if a paladin is the main tank and they aren't getting heals for 15 seconds, something is wrong. That is a failure of healing, plain and simple. To me it sounds like a failure of communication and I would go that route first (some great suggestions on constructively approaching it have been made) but it's not pointing to paladins sucking at tanking.

Everyone sucks at tanking when they're tanking a raid boss and don't get healed for 15 seconds.

Eh, I always seem to die at 1 or 2% on anything I'm MTing... I've chalked it up to the simple fact that my guild believes that sacrificing a paladin blesses the raid with future success...

Unfortunately coincidence has proven this theory correct. Sad
