Help with Movie Recording

So i want to start recording movies what if a good editing tool (for free) and a good recording system that doesnt cause lag (thats free)

Fraps is what most people here use i believe, although the free version (afaik) will only take a max of 30 second clips.

There isn't a lag-free movie capture program unless you've got a really good system, or drop your specs significantly below what your comp can normally handle. FRAPS is pretty decent and easy to use, but as was mentioned teh free version has a 30 second clip maximum and also adds a www.fraps.com watermark.
