You could also throw 5man tanking in with the General tanking theories/strats/etc subforum.

Most of the guides do tend to have a focus on 25/10 man raiding - 5man instances (to me) tend to be more of the "work on X part of your tanking ability" type stuff.

I agree with Honorshammer, but do feel a strong sense of responsibility to those that paved the way for the majority of us. I also upon reflection think the consensus that a guide per expansion is just going to make a lot of work so am happy to work with what the majority think wll be best for this forum.

My current idea which has progressed somewhat from my original idea is to have a index based system, which will have, dependant on your ideas, either 2 or 4 stickies.

The 2 sticky idea is a simple index based Main Tanking Sticky and an Old Guides for Reference Sticky. The 4 sticky idea includes the 2 above stickies but adds specific guides for 10 and 25 man tanking.

Obviously this will evolve as you give more feedback, what I would love to see are the following in no particular order of importance, some of these have indeed already been posted.

Uncritabilty Pre Raid Guide
Enchants and Gemming Guide
Block Cap Guide
Buffs Guide
Tankadin Healing Guide
Faction Equipment Guide
Block Cap Ratings Guide

All of the above helped me in the gearing up process during TBC and I would like anyone new or looking for help to have the same sort of help available that I had.

So any ideas on index or other ways of allowing the information to be easily accessible? I think if we go for anything other than an index we run the risk of huge threads that are not easy to navigate to find the information needed, which is probably the opposite of what we want to achieve.

We need to have less congestion and more accessibility in this forum.

Give me your ideas Smile And Guillex, you don't know what swamped is Razz

Okay you've won me over. I agree, a lot of the old information is now useless for new tanks wanting to be on the bleeding (or blunt) tanking edge. After all that's what this forum is all about.

I think it's a good idea to consolidate the old guides into a single sticky.

However, putting together the current guides in a single sticky rarely works. Lore (I think it was Lore) did this before, and inevitably, people asked questions that were in the stickies because the stickies weren't as visible. Ultimately, it got changed back.

Stickies are good for keeping a board tidy, but I think their best characteristic is their ability to keep threads visible. If they get consolidated, they lose their power to make threads visible anymore.

Like I and others have said, rather have locked consolidated posts as stickes with links to the real discussions. Information in the consolidated threads have to be updated on a regular basis. Wowhead item links a must!

You only need 3 gear stickies really:
1. 5+quest
2. 10
3. 25 man.

Perhaps 2 more stickies with (both with links to relevant basic/advanced training stickies):
4. Enchanting
5. Gemming

And optional 6th:
6. Offspec gear

Very little clutter imho. Cool
All the stuff about critt immune etc should be linked from basic training.

Hopefully I will be able to get a draft copy up and running tommorrow afternoon for you all to look at and comment on. I think 1 index sticky with links is better than 6 stickies, but it depends how I can work it as to if it will be usuable. I will put up the basic draft and then you can all comment on it.

I do intend to cross reference things to basic training and advanced training once the sticky is sorted out.

Why not have only 1 sticky, with an index of topics needed. you can even move those "special" topics into a Sub-Sub folder under the gear section with the one sticky as an index on the main gear page.

BTW I applaud all the efforts made by the people running the web site and contributing to it, to make this the definitive Paladin Tank site in the net...
