Re: Spending Conquest as 10 Man Raider

As a benchmark, our guild can do 25m Flame with 2 towers and no overloads, just by nuking.

Its all about keeping up stacks of 10 spellfire!

I'm also in a 10 man focused guild, and we've downed FL25 with no towers 2 weeks running with 12 the first week and 11 the second week. Based on those experiences, if you have a group that knows the fight I think 10 manning FL+1 is very doable. You'll want to bring as man fully manned Demolishers as you can while keeping at least 1 siege engine around for the interrupt, and if you take only 1 siege engine, flame vents while the siege is being chased sucks! If you do leave one up, best bet would be either tower of Thorim or Hodir, depending on which your raid is more comfortable with.

As a 10man focused benchmark, we can easily down FL10 with 2 towers and had our first 3 tower kill this week.

Get the gloves. the neck can be replaced with a 10 man drop, the belt can be crafted with gold, the legs are for a block set...
Tier 8 is too expensive, get it later.

I bought the neck and wouldn't you know it, the next reset Kolo dropped his. I've looked at them both, but it seems like Shard of the Crystal Forest is better than Mark of the Unyeilding.

Plus the Gloves are actually pretty sick.

Re: Spending Conquest as 10 Man Raider

At first glance i'd agree with you, but after some time i switched back to the mark of unyielding.

The only advantage the shard has over it is hit, and not actually a lot of threat. And considering I have 2 taunts, I am so arogant to say I can do without the hit, I have plenty anyway. I never have problems with burst agro either.

The avoidance is about equal, threat is bit lower, but the armor and stamina combined are a lot more eh.

and yeah, the gloves are quite powerfull.

Shard : 6 Stam, 6 Dodge, 42 Hit
Mark: 18 Str, 336 Armor

Both have a Threat stat. I'm no where near the Hit cap in Tanking gear, and Hit applies to a ALOT more than just taunts.

I don't feel confident in saying whether 6 stam is better than 336 armor. I think the stam would be better, but I don't have anything to back that up.

The new necks are so close and I don't think you would be 'wrong' wearing either one.

Re: Spending Conquest as 10 Man Raider

Personally, I bought the Conquest neck in favour of the Kologarn neck. That being said, I was sad to lose 336 armor from the Kologarn neck. They seem kind of interchangeable in my opinion.

Re: Spending Conquest as 10 Man Raider

It's certainly not wrong, it's flavour.

I really think I can do without the hit, I don't have burst or taunt problems.

And the armor comes up as about 30 stam with the armor<->stam formula for EH.

Re: Spending Conquest as 10 Man Raider

I got the 8.5 chest, it goes nicely with the 8.5 legs skirt that I got from VoA. I have 15 Conquests now and probably will save up for the 8.5 head since I already have the neck from Bridgeface. Haven't checked out the gloves though, I'll have to look at those later.

Re: Spending Conquest as 10 Man Raider

As Awyndel said, the armor is worth around 30 Stamina worth of EH, give or take. The rough rule of thumb I use for armor to stam is 11 armor = 1 stam, as calculated in this post. You can plug your own stats into those equations to figure out what your personal ratio is, but my bet is it will still come out pretty close to 11:1.

The Kologarn neck is a clear EH winner (equal to or better than the Maly25 neck, actually), while the badge one is a good threat item, and both have excellent avoidance.

I did this using just my unbuffed stats and got almost exactly 12:1, though I appreciate that assuming raid buffs is no doubt more valuable an exercise and will probably come out with something closer to your expectation. One quick question, however - when you took your unbuffed numbers, did you assume Devotion Aura was on, since it will always be there when tanking (unlike Kings which will just probably be there) or did you just take your figures as displayed in the Armory?

The first week we started on a lark with about 6 people. We wiped several times but then pulled in another 6 more and took him down on the next try. This week, we did him with 12 with only a few deaths on the gauntlet and a 1-shot of the kill. This gets you 1 extra conquest badge per week.

I'll float this idea by my raid leader. Most nights we are doing well just to have 10 people on to fill out our team.

Make sure you are doing FL10+1 (or FL10+2), so you get conquest badges instead of valor badges, and a chance at an orb.

Re: Spending Conquest as 10 Man Raider

I was in a similar fix. Since badges were coming so slowly, and drops were bad, I bought the gloves first, and then the neck.

Now I'm saving for the chest. (I had the belt crafted). The patch will come before I have enough badges for the chest.. :-P

I think I just took my numbers straight off of the armory. But I rounded off to the nearest 1000 in each case, so it's just a ballpark estimate.
