I don't think block capping is really worth it

You forget that block is EH if you are at the block cap and can keep HS up all the time. It only becomes EH when you are block capped because only then can you be 100% sure you won't get a bad string where all the hits go through. It's like the reason you don't put dodge into your EH calculations, except with block you can get to the point that you can include it.

If the boss is hitting for 10k, and I'm blocking 1.5k of each attack, that's 15% less damage taken. That's about 17% more EH. With 30k health that would be equivalent to about 5k health. Is not being blocked capped getting you 5k health? That would be quite the feat. And that's a fight with a 10k hitter. If those hits were only 6k you'd have over 30% more health.

Getting blocked cap is the best investment you can make towards your EH for physical damage.

Magic damage conveniently ignores block. Sad

without a shaman for heroism I highly recommend the traditional swapping of Rivendale and Thane. Heroism covers nearly the entire time it takes kill thane if you have a heroism. During the heroism it's close to a 30% dps boost for casters and 10-15% for melee. Lossing that much dps will cause the stacks to become stressfully high for the healers if you don't swap tanks.

You can block cap yourself with two pieces of block gear, assuming raid buffs. It's really not that hard. Some items (like the inexorable sabatons) lose stamina for block, but many do not (like t7 chest and legs, burdened shoulders, etc.). Just check out wowwiki for items with block and reasonable stamina, and shoot for those.

Pardon this possibly idiotic question but the OP's base block is 16.77% - not the "102.4" number I've been reading on this forum. So, assuming block cap is not achieving 102.4% block, what exactly IS it? Even the FAQ doesn't specifically say what it refers too. Confused
