Purchased Tier 7

I was just wondering what others opinion is to this and if they have any ideas for solutions or if its just a matter of luck...

Most of us know by now that you can farm heroics for EoH, spend 140 of them and...bam...get yourself 10 man tier 7 chest/gloves. Same goes with raiding...save up your EoV and buy yourself some sexy 25 man tier 7 shoulders/pants.

Here is where problems arise. Depending on your guild and raid structure, most guilds don't use DKP for 10 mans and only use it for 25 mans while others swear that DKP is as useful as a port to shat is now (well...unless you're a death knight...or leveling an alt...or...nevermind, bad analogy). How fair is it to those who spent hours in heroics to get themself their two pieces of tier 7 but in essence could be the last to even see their 3rd, nevermind 4th or 5th pieces?

Most will say its a case of bad luck. "Awww did Toddrick lose a roll on tier 7 and is QQing about it? Too bad, you just suck at rolling." You can start the flames now but by going out and buying yourself tier 7, you are just giving better luck to those who haven't worked as hard as you. I am not complaining about buying my gear, I'm just trying to figure out a way to make it fair for everyone.

Here is a simple example as to what I'm trying to explain with "better luck". Let's just say there are 5 of the same token user in the raid. Only one of you has spent the time to get your two pieces. Tier 7 chest drops. 4 out of the 5 people roll on it because you already have yours giving each person a 25% chance to win it. Now the tier 7 helm drops for the 5 of you. The person who COULDN'T roll on the chest gets stuck with only a 20% chance of winning the helm despite his hard work.

Here are my questions. Is there any way to reward those who have worked harder than others? I am not just saying this for myself because I know there are others who did the same as me and I feel for them. Has anyone derived a failsafe structure for when this problem arises? Should I just spend my EoV on the cape and boots before even considering buying my shoulders/pants just so I can have the same chance of winning those items as everyone else? Am I just being a little nitpicky and is everyone going to just respond with "if its such a big deal to you, then don't buy it...blah blah...qq more"?

If someone could explain it to me to change my mind on the subject of fairness, please do. I am open to change my opinion. Maybe I'm just a little frustrated with seeing people run into heroics and raids with half their gear green and their dps is well below mine. Thanks for any help.

I'd argue you've been "rewarded for your hard work" in heroics by getting your T7 chest and gloves. I mean what the hell else are you gonna spend those EoH on?

I'd also argue exactly how much "hard work" getting a group for heroics is for a well-geared tank. In my experience, the tanks in my guild are worked off their feet whilst the healers and dps are lucky to see 2/3rds the number of heroics the tanks do.

If they get their tier drops ahead of me, great, the guild gets stronger and it'll become easier for me to get mine. I'm not exactly sufferring for it.

I wish that were the case on my server. I spent 40 minutes looking for a healer for HVH last night, and it was the daily heroic. In TBC I would have a full group for pretty much anything in about 5-6 minutes tops. I wouldn't even have time to go do some dailies while in queue. Seems healers are the overworked ones on Spirestone.

Random rolls aren't really fair. DKP is a great system and is fair, but can also be flawed.

If you think you're getting screwed over, all you can do is talk to your raid leader or GM and try to convince them to default a certain item for you. Otherwise, just follow the loot rules and take what you can get.

We use a sort of priority system for 10 mans (for now) At the start of the week everyone in the raid does a /roll, from this we make a list sorted from highest to lowest.

When an item drops, people whisper the master looter, who consults the list, the one on top gets the item and is moved to the bottom.

This way it's kind of impossible to get all the stuff you want from lucky rolls and gives a fair shot to everyone.

Simple. What people do outside raids (heroics, gold grinding, whatever) shouldn't have an impact on what they do in raid.

Do the better geared guy really put more effort into the raid then the less geared guy?

If you are to judge by what they do outside raids, you also should judge what they do inside raid. If one players DPS is lower cause he watches TV that should also lower his looting prio if you work it this way. I mean, he put less effort into it, didn't he?

You can never do it 100% fair according to effort, so instead you should just judge by attendence and group effort - in raid. Some sort of DKP system is the fairest you can get, closely followed by a straight roll system where people respect eachother (oh, I got 2 epics already, you take this one).

if you put more effort to farm heroic
yea, you'll be at a disavantage in raid loot

so farming heroic is not farming for yourself but in the interest of the raid Shocked

then, how can you be rewarded for those efforts.. same happen for the one who spent ressources (time/money) in craft

i'm an old officer, i know all of this and how unfair it seems Wink .
I don't want lootwore/drama, i just don't want my folks to become HCG, i want them to have more real life and enjoy more the game when they connect (and play better) Very Happy , so i don't encourage over-farm Shocked (boss fall when it's their time, sooner or later)
they're still some minor advantage , we cycle our raid seats, and priority is given to dedicaced people, in the end our more HCG are still happy : they understand they contribute to the longevity of the raid and guarante our future

Honestly... look at it this way... in TBC - especially when all the badge gear was released... there were chests/gloves for most of the specs/armor types... and people complained that they weren't really made for their class... making it more difficult... this seems to be blizzard's solution to that problem... and I think it's a good solution

instead of making more offset pieces - they are making the tier pieces available so people can easily get the gear for the spec they want...

does it make a difference if you get a badge chest that is sidegrade/better than your T7... then someone else doesn't have theirs and you pass because of it? or are you the person who even though it's a sidegrade rolls anyways?

honestly - I don't see how this is different from having sidegrade/upgrade gear for those slots available for badges... except that blizz made less work for themselves...

I don't see a problem with this
