10man BIS list (Based on Jayson's list)

The BIS 10man List
I'll not be posting drop locations, click on any of the links to see where it drops (as listed by Wowhead).

Thanks to Jayson for his original work on this list
I have merely taken his list and updated it with TOC aswell.

Note: As you will see in this list there are a few items from Naxx25, I know this isnt 10 man, but on the other hand everyone and his mother can pug Naxx25 nowadays with zero problems.

Head

EH/MT – Liadrin's Faceguard of Triumph: Best Strength, tied at top Stamina. Great avoidance with some BV.
AV – Faceplate of the Honorbound: Good avoidance, tied for top Stam.
T - Faceplate of the Honorbound: Really no good threat helms discovered thus far. Def/BV meta and gem for threat.

Neck

EH/AV/T/MT – Fortitude of the Infernal(HC): Best EH, AV, T. No reason not have have this in your MT Set.

Shoulders

EH/T/MT – Sunreaver Defender's Pauldrons(HC): Decent avoidance, BV for threat, top tied Stam with 2 sockets makes these best for EH aswell.
AV - Shoulderguards of Enduring Order: Best avoidance in slot, use to an AV gem.

Cloak

AV/EH/MT - Cloak of the Unflinching Guardian: Nothing comes close to the Stam or Avoidance on this cloak. only ilvl 258 cloak available and you need to do TotGC with only 4 wipes.
T – Saronite Animus Cloak: High Stamina, lots of Hit, tons of Defense.
B - Shadow of the Ghoul: No other decent Block cloak available.

Chest

AV/EH/MT – Liadrin's Breastplate of Triumph: Top avoidance in slot, Best Stam even before sockets. Great piece.
B/T – Stoneskin Chestplate(HC): TONS, I repeat TONS of STR, good avoidance and 2 slots. Gem with Threat gems.

Wrist

AV/T/MT – Saronite Swordbreakers: Good avoidance, Decent EH, and hit make these the best MT bracers out there.
EH – Dreadscale Bracers(HC): Tied at top Stam with a blue gem and stam bonus makes these the best EH alternative.

Hands

EH/AV/T/MT – Liadrin's Handguards of Triumph: BIS in any department atm, highest stam, best avoidance and large amount of Str. No reason to use any other gloves.

Waist

EH/AV/MT – Belt of the Nether Champion(HC): Best Stamina in slot by a huge amount and strong avoidance both make this the belt to have.
AV/T – Shieldwarder Girdle: Good Avoidance and a large amount of Hit makes this the best Threat belt available for 10 man raiders.

Legs

EH/T/MT – Liadrin's Legguards of Triumph: Higest EH byt a longshot, Hit, BV and good STR for Threat. The higher Ilvl makes these the best MT option.
AV – Conqueror’s Aegis Legguards: Best AV obtainable while keeping a decent Stam number. Puggable in VOA25.

Feet

EH/T/MT – Greaves of the Lingering Vortex(HC): Best Stam, high hit and a decent amount of STR makes these the best all around boots.
AV – Spiked Deathdealers: Almost seem over itemized for the given iLvl. The best AV boots available.

Rings

You will notice there are no MT designations in this section. A good tank should switch rings often to match the situation. There are some that may “overall” be better, but the choice is still situational.

EH/AV – Band of the Twin Valkyr(HC) and Clutch of Fortification – No other rings comes near the Stam and Armor of these two rings.
T – Mark of the Relentless and Signet of the Impregnable Fortress: Covered in hit, expertise and str makes these two the best Threat rings as of now.

Trinket

Same as the Ring section, there are no MT designation’s here as you should go through trinkets like a rich kid goes through toys (no offense to the rich kids out there, please keep reading : ]). I personally prefer 1 Stam trinket and 1 (usually avoidance) trinket with a strong (again, usually avoidance) “on use” ability for most situations.

EH – Glyph of Indomitability and Royal Seal of King Lane.
AV – Eitrigg's Oath(HC) and Furnace Stone. If your above 700 dodgerating with both equipped, swap the furnace stone for Repelling Charge.
T – Darkmoon Card: Greatness is still the best available trinket for both threat and block value. Pyrite Infuser gives a good hitrating aswell as a nice equip effect.
B – Lavanthor’s Talisman and Gnomeregan Auto-Blocker 600/Coren’s Lucky Coin each have their place in a block set depending on your situation.

Shield

AV/B/MT – The Boreal Guard: Best Block stats and best avoidance, takes the MT designation with best stam aswell if gemmed full stam gems.
EH – Aegis of the Coliseum(HC): The best EH in slot at this time, due to the increase in BV and armor.
T – Northern Barrier: Best threat in slot with the Hit and Expertise on it.

Weapon

The weapon section will be set as a ranking system as Paladin threat is primarily based on weapon DPS. This means that the higher Item Level weapons that generally have more avoidance on them also produce the most threat. Block stats should not be sought at the weapon slot. To see a threat comparison and summary on several weapons, see this comparison by Theck.

1. Ardent Guard(HC): Best EH and highest DPS due to ilvl makes this the blade I'll use the most.
2. Shiver: Best weapon with hit on it, also best avoidance with sockets.

EDIT: For some reason links and whatnot didnt come with the txt when i copied it from openoffice, will update ASAP. (Or as soon as wife has given birth atleast :P)

Re: 10man BIS list (Based on Jayson's list)

I beg to differ regarding Naxx 25. Most pugs still seem to fail pretty quick, and personally I can't play 25-mans due to horrible fps problems. Then again all I see on the list from there are 2 cloaks, so meh.

Nice list!

I would agree with Kysen that Naxx25 is not a puggable option for a lot of people though.

Re: 10man BIS list (Based on Jayson's list)

the problem then is that you only have 2 cloak options to chose from more or less :P

thats Saronite Animus and Platinum Mesh, where Saronite is the clear winner..

Re: 10man BIS list (Based on Jayson's list)

Why is the Valor badge back not an option?
Seem to have the same head mentioned twice aswell btw ^^
Id definately put the Black heart on the list as a 2nd Sta trinket if you want 2xsta, and the procc is pro to make it pretty tied with Royal Seal.

Re: 10man BIS list (Based on Jayson's list)

Pre-patch, it was Platinum Mesh that was a clear winner, but now Saronite beats it out, which is rather interesting.

The biggest thing I take from this list is that there are some rather gaping holes in gear (i.e. Ulduar drops are still BiS a tier later) if you stick to 10-man raids.

I agree completely, I think Sabin brought this to light a while back. Seems silly to offer something and then not implement it properly :/.

Well the Valor Cloak is a good option, except for the fact that Saronite Animus has the exact same stats more or less, just higher ilvl. Thus the Saronite is the better option ;)

Concerning the head, the reason its mentioned twice is because its used in two suits, and depending on what you use it for it should be gemmed differently.

the black heart is indeed an awesome stam trinket for its ilvl, but when it comes to pure EH, the glyph of indomitability+Royal Seal of king Llane beats it hands down.

Indeed there are, sadly quite a few slots are missing in either ulduar or Toc, which means youll have to downgrade to earlier instances, if its because they havent been discovered yet or they forgot about them i dont know, time will tell.

Re: 10man BIS list (Based on Jayson's list)

I'm betting the Tanking cloak in ToC is from the Tribute chest.

Re: 10man BIS list (Based on Jayson's list)

Just a quick update. Will try and sort a few of the links atleast later tonight after finished raiding. Also there are some changes to be made, primarily in the trinket department aswell as weapons and whatnot from the new and lovely tribute chests.

Sadly aswell as gladly the new kid hasnt decided to come out yet, means more time on my hands in general but instead I have to work. giving me limited time for Maintankadin :P

Peace

Ulduar 10 was kinda like that also, not as bad becuase hardmodes held some of the drops missing from the normal tables. But with ToC you get improved normal drops which ruins the diversity that hardmode loot used to present.

Personally I think 10s and 25s should be on the same lock out period. Just doesnt sit right with me that 10 man hardmodes which are balanced around 10 man normal gear can be doable by people in 25 man gear which is atleast half a step better. Or even normal modes, It takes a 10 man tank twice as fast to gear up as a 10 and 25 man tank, same goes for the whole raid. Being able to use two lock outs effectively allows 25 man raiders to progress quicker than their 10 man counterparts, atleast initially via quicker gearing.

I guess thats a tad bit off topic, sorry but its sore spot for me and a 10 man only tank.
