Has someone submitted Tankadin data wrt AD to beta??

Tankadin (Chloe's mod) certainly records the mitigation from ardent defender. I am wondering if anyone has submitted data from various boss encounters. I personally have never seen mitigation above 2% with it, often more approximating 1%.

My feeling is that it should at least be reduced to a 3point talent. The problem is that our RF and our lack of a last stand ability are balanced against it. And a reminder to those that say that we have LoH to balance LS --> remember that we can use LoH on our fellow tanks so that ability should not be compared to LS (moreso to divine guardian and safeguard as they all have effects on other players).

With tankadin data, I'm sure the devs will see that RF should likely be buffed as a 3point talent for 3/6/9% dmg reduction, with the 1% to approximate warrior mitigation from defensive stance coming from AD itself.

That it only reduced damage taken by 2% speaks well to you and your healers, not AD. During that 2%, though, you needed it the most and it was by 35% at the time. Again, though, I'd be happy with a graphic/buff/combatlog entry for AD and leaving it the way it is.

I'd trade AD for a more solid mitigator, but I can't say it's a bad talent. It takes a little hit from our stamina loss, but when we pop our shield wall, it would be very powerful.

To answer your question, no I don't know if anybody ever sent that kind of data to Bliz. All I've ever used AD's mod for is to track saves as opposed to mitigation.

For where it stands in the tree, AD really needs to be worth its cost. Whether or not AD is useful is not the issue I'm referring to. I'm talking about the fact that it's in a barren location of the tree with few alternatives (Reckoning I guess... assuming you took BoKings) and costs a hefty 5 points. If we have to debate on the usefulness of a core talent that we're balanced around, it feels sour. Just like Redoubt was on live.

If people are still debating AD's usefulness, then simply lowering the cost won't quell that, just like making the old Redoubt 3 points without folding Shield Spec in would've. AD really needs an additional effect, and while a flat % dmg decrease would be nice, I find that just adds more to the passive nature of Paladin tanking.

I'd really like it if they could take a page from the new Warrior Prot tree. Make our talents trigger synergistic effects or open up new combos with baseline abilities. Judgement of the Just is a good start and AD could be something unique that makes people enthusiastic about spending their points.

The question you have to ask yourself is, would less but constant mitigation on hits that weren't going to kill you be more useful than greater mitigation that saved you from dying?

I'm almost always in the 1.0% to 1.2% range on AD. Even in hyjal. I don't consider it to be a mitigation talent, because it's really not. The number of times it actually saves me from DEATH is why I pick it up. It's a highly situational "invulnerability" (as in preventing death similar to Cheat Death) talent, not mitigation as far as I'm concerned.

I also get ~1-1.5%, and 9/10 times, I'd say I'm on the floor dead when Tankadin tells me. ZOMG AD saved you 1 times. /facepalm

That said, I do still have the talent, but I am always wondering if its worth it or not. With the new divine shield, it could be quite interesting, we'll see how it goes.

My fear of course is that even with more stamina and a 30k hp pool or so, will it still get leaped over? I don't mind a boss or two where it is, but if all bosses can just waltz past it... time to do a lolslam build with crusade for undead pwnage. Laughing Twisted Evil

I don't have AD, and the addon still tells me AD saved me a lot. So...I think the number of "AD has saved me!" is far lower than most people think.

The thing is tho, every time I see the 'Ardent Defender saved you 1 times'.... that's one wipe avoided. IMO having an ability that prevents a wipe once per run, or 2 times on a progression night, is amazing.

But then again I do heroics way more often than raids so i get a lot more mitigations out of it / a lot less 'leapfrogging'
