You beat Lore to it, so I'm following up in this thread with commentary soon...

Here are my first impressions of the pieces:

Chestguard of the Stoic Guardian: Slightly better than the Tier 5 Chestpiece, picks up a bunch of avoidance and small amounts of stam/spell damage at a cost of block value...socket bonus tempting for those without access to BT/Hyjal gems

Sabatons of the Righteous Defender: Not terribly impressed to be honest, the addition of spell hit is interesting, but to get it (the joys of too many stats to collect) the resulting piece is very lacking in avoidance. I'd almost consider socketing them 8 dodge / 4def/6stam. An upgrade from Kara options to be sure but I'd prefer the solarian boots, and they only beat the SSC/TK BS ones marginally. Not going to be high on my priority list.

Girdle of the Protector: Again, spell hit makes for crowded itemization. Very close to SSC/TK crafted belt, this sacrifices block value and some stam for higher avoidance. If I had to pick two of this, the BS belt, and the Leo belt, this one would probably lose out, but the spell hit throws an interesting twist in there.

Bracers of the Ancient Phalanx: Warrior threat tanking bracers. Expertise is an interesting stat, but my gut reaction is that you'd be better of sticking with the VR bracers and grabbing threat elsewhere through spell damage/spell hit. Certainly better than Green Fortress, situationally better than Vambraces of Courage (for threat).

Bonefist Gaunlets: A solid stam piece, but the ratings are more geared for a Warrior. For a stam set it'd be nice, but it's not particularly great for avoidance, block, or threat sets, so I'd rate this relatively low priority due to it's lack of versatility.

Unwavering Legguards: Amazing stam pants, certainly replacing Wrynn's and a nice complement to the tier 5 legs, Praetorian's Legguards remain better for MT'ing, but then all this heroic gear is below Hyjal/BT gear in ilevel

Slikk's Cloak of Placation: Al'ar Cloak for effective health junkies. The two pieces are very close, though I'd give a slight edge to this one. No real reason to seek out one if you've got the other though.

Finally, props to Blizzard for putting *0* int on any of the tanking gear, including the Pally pieces. Every patch they seem to get a little better at figuring us out.

I could actually see myself replacing my boots of the protector with the sabatons...slightly more stamina and some block value on top of it!

If anything with this new gear its going to be hard to find some extra block rating gear that i love to collect, since i tend to lean towards stamina/block rating/block value, right now i am just barely teetering on the edge uncrushability.

Damn, I didn't expect the heroic gear to actually be decent. Guess I'm farming heroics again...

Do we know how many badges these items cost? It would be nice to know how many badges I'll need in order to buy the gear I want on patch day.

Oh, there's some screens on WorldofRaids.com now. I asume the Tankadin gear looks the same. It looks pretty... unique Razz

WorldofRaids also gives the number of badges needed.
