Re: [Faction Champions] Preparation for Boss #3

How to chain taunt/kite melee

Taunt them as far out of the group as possible, then let them get almost back to their target before you taunt again. Use your stun on them while they are out of group. And judge justice/hamstring.

Re: [Faction Champions] Preparation for Boss #3

Was able to beat 'em both in ToC10 and 25, tho we wiped about 15 times before we killed 'em in each version.

On our successful kills, I was in tank spec and pushing DP+DS every time and casting HoS/HoP on whatever healer was within my range (when HoS/HoP were not on CD)

Ironically, in ToC10 we killed the shammy healer first and then took down the warlock, we totally ignored the priest and killed him last (the previous tries, he was our 2nd in the kill order but the RL made a marking mistake so we lost track of the priest until we had already killed all the DPS)

On ToC25 we chain Death Gripped the Resto Drood into our melee group, again, I kept popping DP+DS every time it was off the CD, then we went after the shammy healer, then warrior and rogue... boomkin and pally healer were left last.

Once the two first healers the fight starts going into cruise -if- you have enough people alive after that point.

Re: [Faction Champions] Preparation for Boss #3

As a prot pally you can be of some help on this fight, taunting is a great way to get the dpsers away from your heals, you can stun every so often and you can cleanse like mad. On our last kill I had the second most dispels.

They can be stunned by shockwave. They can also be stunned by charge stun. Can also be interrupted (and silenced) by heroic throw. Oh, and intim shout works as an interrupt too. And pummel if you want to switch to zerker.

Shield slam will also dispell renews, earthshield etc off your target, so with SnB procs you can pretty much keep a target stripped of all magical buffs.

Valynus wrote:Hi,

Although we've latelty had no issue being successful for this encounter in 10 men, we're being completely slaughtered in 25 mainly due to the Melee npc's killing our casters and healers.

We've been trying to assign our 3 tanks (me included) to each one of the melees but eventually they become taunt-inmune and devastate our clothies.

Is really possible having all the melees kited/distracted along the battle by chain-taunting?

Maybe this is trivial but thare have been yet many tries dying by the same problem and I'd need some tip on performing this kiting duty given many of you have been able to solve the taunt penalty issue.

Thank you.

I keep a melee add (usually the Warrior) occupied for this fight. The key to me is to not think about it as chain taunting or kiting. My job is to keep that mob out of the fight. So as said before, as tanks, you CAN'T just rely on your taunt. So as a Warrior, you can hamstring/taunt/shockwave/stun but be sure to taunt until it become immune then fill in your other abilities to hold him in place until you're able to taunt him again.

Also, be sure to put reliable people on CC duties. If you're CC'ing you should do nothing else until your target is dead. We wiped for a couple hours until I got that into the CC'er's heads. People would sheep/banish then start DPSing. Inevitably they would lose track of their mobs who would then go around chain casting heals or roflstomping healers before they could be CC'd again. CC>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>DPS on this fight.

Re: [Faction Champions] Preparation for Boss #3

I disagree. Besides banish tree and contorling melee adds, there is no need at all to CC anything else.

In my expereince it just lowered our DPS on the main burn target since the casters DPS is trivial. (except warlock hellfire, just move away)

This... I have my dpsers all spam a CC on the pull to prevent an instagib on someone (always seems to be my rogue interrupter) and then go to town on the kill target. The only CCing we do is having me taunt/kite the melee.

How do you deal with the heals then? The holy pally can put out obscene healing amounts, do you just burn through it?

On our kills we have focused a lot on making sure the healers are cced for the duration of the encounter

Re: [Faction Champions] Preparation for Boss #3

Yep, healed through it. When we had no FoK rogue we put a shammy on the paladin to get some interupts.

Basicly, CC they get resistance to CC. But interupts they don't. You can lock down the paladin fairly easily with focused interupts. The druid not so much, but he can be banished. And the shaman must be burnt.

Re: [Faction Champions] Preparation for Boss #3

For those not using CC, are you doing so on 10 man or 25 man? Both?

On 25 man we had a lock, shadow priest, and a warrior who were generously using their fears. Also, are you kiting three melee by yourself?

We tried a burn strat at first but by the time the first target was down, our healers were all dead. The mobs have a nasty habit of training them. We found it a lot easier to just control the mobs.

Our total comp for the week was:

Warlock
Hunter
Rogue
DK
Warrior
Shadow Priest
Enhancement Shaman
Holy Paladin
Disc Priest
Tree Druid

If we didn't have the DK, Rogue, and Warrior handled, healers would be dead almost instantly. We also found it easier for us to CC the lock since you can do no DPS while running around feared. Plus we had the CC so may as well use it. We still got some fears but it seemed for us that the Warlock was doing most of the fearing.

We also burned the Felhunter first so he wasn't spell locking our healers.

For us at least, controlling the fight made it a lot easier and way less hectic and, I believe, very repeatable.

The warlock Hellfire can be cunterspelled, it turned the fight a lot easier on 25 man.

We don't cc on 25 man. Just interupts/banish and melee control.

Re: [Faction Champions] Preparation for Boss #3

In 25 man, you can burn through the healers output easy enough with focused fire. In 10 man, its not possible to outdps the Paladin's healing, so you need to assign CC and interrupts to him. The Paladin easily puts out up to 20K HPS. The other healer's don't seem to be as strong or they use other abilties instead of direct heals. Killing the Paladin first is also problematic because he bubbles and heals up alot. Curse of Tongues and Mortal Strike are also extremely helpful. The fight is 10x easier when the Holy Paladin isn't there. We one shot it easily the first week when the healers were Druid, Priest, Shaman in 25 and Druid, Priest in 10 man. This week we had the Paladin in 10 and 25 and we had 3 wipes in 10 and way to many in 25 before we assigned a Rogue to Stun, Gouge, Interupt, Blind the Paladin.

Re: [Faction Champions] Preparation for Boss #3

After two-shotting them in 25-man, we got our asses handed to us in 10-man.

Apparently, this fight isn't really meant to be done by a group where no one can apply the -50% healing debuff.

I don't see why.

It's just that you will have control both healers while you do it. If you don't have a MS effect it just means that trying to kill a DPS first isn't an option - healer first is the only choice.

There's no setup that has more than 2 healers, and if you get say the Shadow Priest, he will never attempt to heal anyone.
