No heroic mode until 5 weeks?

We've down northrend beasts in 10 mode yesterday evening (1st try only one mage died against the 2 jormungars) and want to try heroic version but we can't start the event. Seems like we'll have to down all bosses on normal mode before being attuned so we'll have to wait 5 weeks?

This patch really sucks...

I've heard rumors that bosses 4 and 5 will both come out this Tuesday, thus also enabling heroic mode, so 3 new bosses this Tuesday.

Has anyone else heard these rumors?

I have heard it theorised and then quashed, yes.

The argument was that since Anub is encountered when the floor falls out from under you after fighting the twin valkyr, that'd mean beating TV this week would also unlock Anub this week.

The counter was that the floor doesn't fall out from under you until you talk to the NPC about the next boss after beating TV, in which case this tuesday he can just say "come back next week" like he's said the past 3 tuesdays.

It's still pretty lol when you beat the valkyr.

"Hooray, you beat the final challenge... uhh.. come back next week for the celebration!"

Do we already know if everyone in raid should have 5/5 normal mode to do heroic mode ? Or if only one player in raid with 5/5 normal mode is enought ?

I remember them saying all you need is one person to have done it.

So do we expect to see Heroic modes for All 5 bosses next week? Or is it also going to be staged release?

Furthermore, can anyone shed some light on the tribute system? Is there a set number of runs for the whole heroic save or is it per boss?

All of this information is directly from blue posts, so it's 100% accurate.


All hard mode bosses will be available next Tuesday, assuming someone in your group has killed Anub. No staged releases.

Tribute system = 50 attempts per raid reset. From your first pull, you have 50 attempts to clear the instance. If you wipe 20 times on the first boss, you'll only have 30 attempts for the rest of the bosses. Once you run out of attempts, the bosses despawn and you are done in there for the week.

I gotta say that 50 attempts is a LOT of wipes for one week. Way more than what we're used to in the expansion, so I'm still wondering about the real difficulty level of the heroic version of this raid, for both 10 and 25.
I haven't checked my stats now, but I believe Sarth + 3d (10) was the one I wiped the most by far, and you know how quick that fight can be, and even then the most attempts we had in a single night on him was 20-25 if I'm not mistaken, our first go at him.

50 wipes is two ~3.5h raid nights, nothing too bad and considering how close is the GY and that there is no trash it shouldn't be a problem to have 30-40 tries over a single 3-4h night.

In our guild we raid 2.5 hours a night, when we were progressing hard modes if we spent the whole night wiping it worked out to about 15 attempts, so basically we got 3 days of raiding in hard modes before we are out of attempts. I like that as a convenient cut off, it will make scheduling a little easier. Blow up normal mode Tuesday then start hard mode, do hard modes the next 2 days, then back into Ulduar.

50 wipes @ 10g repair per raider per wipe average. (brezzes, soulstones, ankhs increase the average)

That's 500g /raider / week, on top of flasks, enchants, gems. Our guild has been selling Ulduar boe epics for gold, but their price has dropped. TotC boe's are needed by raiders, so no income there. We had guild repairs on for the first 3 weeks of TotC, but going forward, I don't know if the guild can afford to cover 12,500g per week without BoE epics to sell.

We just turn repairs off on non-progression fights, unless there's a steady inflow of money from something (bear runs, nightfall runs, maybe rusted-proto runs soon).
