Problem: OT can't seem to keep up with you on threat and boss is untauntable.

Solution: Cast Hand of Salvation on yourself. Smile

Easier solution: slack off for a while? Smile

While patch is taunt immune taunt rotations work beautifully on Loatheb if you screw up somehow and your MT gets the first spore.

hmm, I haven't tested this theory but it seems to me that there is a cap on how much threat Taunt will give you. (It could also be a debuff that i dont' read.)

For instance, I was MT on VoA the other day and when i got picked up and tossed as you know my threat went down to 0.

Now when i taunted i got the 3 second fixate and was generating threat back but i still only had 2-300k threat compared to the 6-700k threat that the OT had. I had to also blow Righteous Defense to gain only another 2-300k threat I was still short by a few 100k threat so Taunt again and then i finally got sustained aggro.

Maybe i'm just stupid and i've never read this anywhere or there is a cap on the threat taunt will generate.

Mechanically, there is no cap on taunt threat whatsoever. You don't believe me, try taunting a boss of your MT having done NOTHING for the entire fight.

I don't know if this is a problem anymore, but back in ancient times it was discovered that the OT on Gruul could taunt the MT and get a threat boost even though the boss was taunt-immune.

However, all that served to do was to make Omen look prettier. In reality the OT had the same lousy threat he had before. The only difference was that nobody could see his real threat, so the melee died.

I suspect that with the change to threat reporting Omen and the like should be more accurate, but all the same I would be wary of taunting immune bosses to get a threat boost.

As for the Grand Widow, next time you face her, go for the achievement of not killing the worshipers. I think you'll find the fight is not much (if at all) more difficult, and is faster. That is our preferred tactic on the fight in both 10- and 25-man versions of Naxx, although it is more difficult on 10.

Taunting isn't tanking. Teaching them how to build threat is a far safer way of doing it instead of a gimmicky "leapfrogging", which actually relies on someone building up threat fast after the taunt, and can backfire easily enough.
