Changing Professions

Question for those of you that have changed professions. If you change professions and then later try to change back to the original, does it remember that you use to have 375points in it and start you off there or do you go back to 0 when you pick back up your old profession?

I believe you lose everything, so it's just like starting from scratch and leveling the profession from zero.

Even if you are able to pick up the specialization you can't retrain the skills you got from quests aka the Mote Extractor...
