divine guardian

i feel like a n00b but i just can't get my brain around it...

how is this good as a *main* tank. off tank, sort of sure, except the whole losing aggro when you bubble seems bad.

here, let me take the damage off of you but sending every mob i had onto you?

but ... on my shaman, i kept seeing this buff up when the paladin didn't have a bubble on. so confused Embarassed

could someone explain to me how to use this effectively? i really dont feel like killing people Smile

If you are so inclined to never share the spotlight then DG is not much good. If you view yourself as part of a tanking Corps however it is an excellent too to use while you are not being attacked. 30% less damage is huge and you can often use it as an "oh shit" buttton if you see your fellow tank going down or as a buffer for large amounts of raidwide damage (think Naj).

Re: divine guardian

MT would almost never benefit from DG. However, if you do OT sometimes, DG can be a great help to your MT during damage spike.

I'd laugh a lot if a mage spellstealed divine guardian.

Divine Guardian isn't normally for a Main Tank, but there have been plenty of examples throughout these boards that show boss fights and such that Divine Guardian can play a huge role for ANY Tank.

One that comes to mind was Illidan, or even Shade of Aran in Karazhan. There are several bosses within the game that either have phases where you don't tank (Eagle Phase for Zul'jin anyone?) or that don't really have Aggro Tables (Shade of Aran). Its for these bosses that Divine Guardian really, really helps your healers.

And where else are you going to put those two points? Reckoning?

For maximising threat, Reckoning and SoB with a slow weapon is much more threat and DPS than SoV and no reckoning.

Slightly risky with the judgment damage, but much more single target threat!

Best way to test it is to make a fire under you and then attack a training dummy with reckoning up.

Reckoning is procing SoB for me...

As was said though, its wasted on SoV.
