I... don't think there are optional companions?

Well, I supposedly completed my class stories, but am aware there should be *another* companion for my Consular.

SPOILER - Click at your own goddamn risk!

This guy?

EDIT - CRAP, just read wowhead, he's not available right now :-(

Re: Star Wars; Old Republic

http://WWW.SWTORFACE.COM
has a companion section that will show you all of the classes companions, basic information about them, what gifts they like and so forth.

Companions are not optional, even if you try to choose a "I don't want to work with this X" something occurs and you still end up stuck with them.

Re: Star Wars; Old Republic

Who are your favorite companions now that everyone has had a bit of time playing and has most likely started at least one alt?

So far, I've enjoyed most of the starting companions on the empire side and not many on the republic side. For my trooper, Aric is just kinda wooden and boring but from what I hear from my female friends, he's more interesting if you do romance with him. I guess its similar to Elara. My other friend is playing a female trooper and he reports that Elara is pretty bland and boring while I found her somewhat interesting after doing her romance stuffs. Vik is probably my favorite trooper companion followed by Forex (4X). I want Jaxo.

Vette for the Sith warrior is probably my favorite so far. She's spunky and kinda bubbly. I decided to take her slave collar off when the opportunity presented itself. Kaliyo for the agent is pretty fun as well. Mako can jump off a cliff with T7 and Corso. I haven't played through as a consular yet so I don't know much about Qyzen. I look forward to unlocking the Jawa companion on my BH but since he's a tank, I probably wont use him much. Perhaps I'll throw him in dps stance and make the best of it but I'll probably be stuck with Mako :( I haven't started an inquisitor yet but I played one in beta and their companion is fantastic. I loved using him to instill some unease in other force users.

Hrm I'm noticing a trend here. 3/4 empire starter companions are pretty enjoyable. So far for me, 0/3 on the republic side are.

Re: Star Wars; Old Republic

Consular companions are pretty much hit-and-miss: their outlook are pretty clear from your early conversations, but apart from Quizen and Nadia, they don't interact often enough to be very engaging.

Unrelated: I'm starting to get the hang of PvP: bubble wathever is in range and run like a headless chicken around a column. When available, Force Wave or stun. Also, Huttball really IS fun as Consular.

Re: Star Wars; Old Republic

I absolutely love Yuun, Qyzen and 4X, all 3 I never have much chance to use.

Yuuns space shaman outlook makes me laugh out loud, 4X does the same but because he is basically a walking propoganda machine. and Qyzen just makes me want to be a Trandoshan.

Elara I have an odd relationship with, she is not that exciting but she puts me in mind of a very proper English nanny (with a gun), which I cant find that objectional due to repeated exposure to Mary Popins as a child.

Empire side Khem Val is good for a laugh, if killing and eating jedi is what makes you laugh.

Vette I dont get, I found her very meh, but I did feel really bad when I used my Sith Warriors racial on her.

C2-N2 needs to die, preferably buried alive by an avalanch of shimmersilk purses.

Re: Star Wars; Old Republic

Admittedly I'm not too far into the story for the sith warrior and haven't spent a whole lot of time with Vette but she amused me. When I took her collar off and she asked me what was next, I said lets conquer the galaxy together and she replies in a surprised and confused tone something along the lines of "Okay.. my buddy the sith! At least no one will pick on me in school." I found that enjoyable.

I think what makes playing the empire tolerable for me is basically being able to defy them at every turn. My bounty hunter is great. She's just out for herself and I tell the empire to eat shit as often as possible and failing that I hose them out of as many credits as possible. The first chunk of inquisitor was fun cause everyone treats you like shit, so it is quite easy to treat them the same in return.

For all the faults the game has, they did a really good job making all the classes feel awesome while you're leveling up and playing their stories.

Re: Star Wars; Old Republic

So I ran the new rahkghoul dungeon last night, and I'm pretty sure that bioware just hates tanks and/or is trying to re-define the tank role in some weird way. For starters the DPS's aoes hit each opponent for about 3.5k each, my most potent one hits for 770~ and i only get a 50% threat modifier. 1st boss is nothing but aoeing shit tons of adds while maybe trying to tank an eltie every once in awhile that wil either make you unable to preform actiosn or throw you 80meters away. THe second boss does a knock back every 10 seconds or so and everytime he knocks you back its an agro wipe and tautn is a 15seconds CD. The last boss is a council fight. One of them makes the other 2 attack random targets. One makes them untauntable, and one makes them un-interuptable. I meen its really not a hard dungeon but its so frustrating that I feel like I cant do my job and the rest of the group is telling me that I'm actually a good tank...

I wonder if the first fight might be designed with the idea of having no tank, since you can't hold threat anyway?

Re: Star Wars; Old Republic

So, should we have a list of servers and who's playing on them? Would be nice to know where I could meet up with other players if I succumb to the temptation that is TOR.

We should. If I buy the game, I'd like to roll with people here, as at least I'm not a total stranger to the entire server. ;) I'd also like to see a PvE/PvP server distinction and some overview of relative populations and timezones -- I bet it's on one of the fansites, but haven't gone looking yet.

Apparently there's no way in the account management page to edit or delete existing payment options, and trying to re-enter the same credit card info with a different billing address gives you an error, so I'm locked out of playing because I moved. >.<

Also, ZOMG new forum!

Does anyone know if you can move the hotkey for the ingame GM help from "§" to something else? It's annoying and I keep pressing it(I have it keybound to important stuff in wow)!!!

Re: Star Wars; Old Republic

Quick Question for the masses. I have Bioanalysis/Biochem/Slicing on my Imperial Agent [level 12].

Is it worth keeping slicing at max level or ditching it? I have friends with diplomacy already so the bonuses that gives to Biochem can be worked around.

Are there many chests in Flashpoints that yield good items/rewards?

I kinda like the feel of it with the character hence me asking.
