Pretty much the truth here.

I think it will be more different from SWG then like SWG.

It isn't against lore either

Yep, but Lucas isn't especially fond of the idea either, which is why he's asked for no more. (It's specifically mentioned in the "Behind the Scenes" part of Lowbacca's page) To be honest, in the KotOR timeframe Wookies in general are barely-known. In both games they're something the PC had never seen before, so I wouldn't hold my breath expecting Wookies everywhere.

In one of the games, I think it was Sith Lords, you visit the Wookie homeworld.

It was the first one, and at least in the light-side (canon) version, it had every human who wasn't in the PC's part being violently expelled from the planet.

If you do become a dark jedi i wonder if we'll visit Korriban (from KOTOR 1) where dark jedi were trained

I'm thinking it'll be different from both. KotOR was based on the Star Wars D20 pen-and-paper system that's owned by Wizards of the Coast. I imagine they'll invent an entirely different set of mechanics for TOR.

They said they want the combat system to be much more action oriented than your typical MMO's. so I'd imagine that would include running and shooting at the same time. This isn't Resident Evil 5 here

source:
IGN: (laughs) Moving on, can you guys explain the combat system at all; does it resemble a traditional MMO or more of a turn-based, KOTOR-style game, or is it a mixture of everything like Mass Effect? What's the system looking like?

Jake Neri: I think right off the bat that people have picked up on is that we're going for high-action, fast-paced, Star Wars cinematic-style combat. So while the mechanics of it might be rooted in what you expect from an MMO, what we're seeing right now is a level of visceral action that doesn't exist in any MMO yet. That's coming across in the stuff that we're showing. Dallas, what do you think?

Dallas Dickinson: Yeah, I think that's a fair way of describing it. That underneath, under the hood, there's a whole lot of MMO stuff going on, but the feel to the player--and this is in the feedback that we've received from everybody who's touched the game--is that it feels a lot more action based. It feels a lot more cinematic. Again, it's that Star Wars heroic feel that we're really striving for right now.

There is a very long and quite detailed interview from comic con.... here: http://pc.ign.com/articles/100/1007266p1.html

Re: Star Wars; Old Republic

IGN: A lot of people wanted to know about the healing system. Will The Old Republic use a trinity system; the tank, healer, and the DPS class. Will the healer play a massive role, or will groups be able to go with no healing?

Dallas Dickinson: We want to make sure that we have many, many MMO roles filled there, but it's really important to us that players are able to actually play their experience either as a group or as a solo. So there are a number of ways that healing comes into the game. Several of our classes have healing branches that they can follow that will have some specific healing powers, but we don't want to make it a requirement for the base core game. That said, you're obviously going to be better off, especially when you get into higher-level stuff and into PvP, if you have healers on your side.

Jake Neri: I think we have a unique sort of twist on how healing works. I don't think we're speaking in total detail about it, but I think the people will be excited for it, and it's definitely a unique function of our game.

Sounds interesting, wondering if they'll be going away from the traditional mmo trinity

Honestly I wouldn't care either way. Specific rolls for classes really isn't something that bothers me. Sure it sounds nice to say "were not going to need tanks or healers and can all have fun and do everything, but I don't see it translating well to the game. I just hope if they try to get rid of the standard trinity system they don't end up like lord of the rings. In that game pretty much every class can heal in one way or another and tank in one way or another. The problem is that there really isn't any class definition and you still end up needing the 'best tank and healer class' to do anything anyway. It's really not something that I can see getting rid of. Maybe i'm wrong, but I honestly don't see it.

If anything, maybe have something like a paladin type of trait tree where you can spec each class to be a tank, healer, or dps. That way your not limited by what you chose, but you can't do everything well all at once :?

It'll be interesting to see what they come up with, but i'm not confident in a system that takes away a tank & healer roll and just ends up homogenizing the classes as a result.

Re: Star Wars; Old Republic

The dynamic can be broken, holy trinity exists because it makes for easy role assignment for the players and developers. But depending on how the PvE content works out it can be done.

The biggest issue with healing is that people need to take damage for healing to be effective and in PvP healing can be devastatingly powerful.
