Tome Drop Rate

A mage frined in my guild has now killed him more than 30 times and seen the tome ... never.

My pally is holy, so I three-box this boss with feral druid tank, holy pally, shadow priest. Takes about 12mins to kill him... would be faster if I were three people playing three toons instead of one person.

Pre-kara possiable?

I'm interested in doing this because I've got my fishing high enough but I'm not post Kara yet. I'm afraid I'm not too good with all the number crunching and stuff so I know it's a lot to ask but does anyone know if it's possible to become uncrushable passively before moving past Kara, and if so with what gear? If anyone answers big thanks.

Sincerely,

Possible..maybe, but I doubt it. It would be very difficult and you'd have to use all defense enchants and +def gems. This would also make all your gear extremey sub-optimal for actual tanking.

Yeah, I love this soloing raid bosses thing, and have done Arlokk in ZG several times, but passive uncrushabililty still eludes me (by about 2%) because I refuse to regem/re-enchant anything away from what I view as optimal for tanking if I'm going to use it in some set. If it's in a tanking set, it doesn't get screwed with.

I should mention that the uncrushabililty list doesn't include socket bonuses. For instance, the Panzar'Thar Breastplate is actually much better than its place on the list would imply if you socket it well, because you can get a full 0.51% shield block from the socket bonus.

Edit: BTW, Gahzranka I think only required passive uncrush and 800 BV if you want to afk it. Garr is the one who really requires it period because he dispells your buffs (including Holy Shield).

So is passive uncrush for modern raid bosses the same as pre bc? what number am i shooting for.

Right now the way my gear is, with just swapping a few peices i can hit 92% with about 670 BV. And i get to click the figurine for heals, and moroes pocket watch once in a while.

I could drop 1% and get it to like 730/740 tho...

Gahz'ranka Update!! zzzzz.....

Since discovering this thread about a month ago, I've killed him a bunch of times. Sometimes with a group, sometimes dual-boxing. I've seen the (supposedly rarer) eyepatch twice and fish terminator once, but zero tomes.

I'm gonna keep trying! ><

I currently use a pally healer (much better than a priest for when Gahz chews on him for a bit) and a feral druid tank. I park the tank on the shore and he NEVER gets tossed up or knocked back. The pally does get both, but with 10k hp and 1800 +heal, just survives the dmg and heals back up. It's actually become pretty straightforward to dual-box it with just a couple of macros.

BUT...

Today it took me 1.5 hours to kill Gahz. That's 1.5 hours continuously. Normally it's 18mins, but I endured EIGHT boss resets to full... 2 of those were from 5% to full.

The first post in this thread warned of this... it'd happened to me a few times before with him, but today was ridiculous. Any advice on how to avoid resets? What's the mechanic that causes it? It felt like it happened while the pally was in midair and Ghaz decided to switch aggro to him, but couldn't reach him because he was in the air.

During this time, he evades any attacks from the tank, so cannot be taunted.

Interesting.

Still not sure if it worth the time.
I druid in my guild just picked up a Tome for Resale off the AH for an extremely low price of 3800g.

These tend to go for around +5000g on my server.

After reading this guide, decided to do it last week.

I'm about 2.5% shy of passive uncrush, i'd reach it but I don't want to re-gem my t6 gear etc.. So the few pieces I had left over in the bank I re-gemmed and went to town.. Vendored my suneater in place of more bag space (give pallies mroe bag room!) so used the adamantite rapier with 20 agil on it.

Went in, testing to see if I could do it, solo'd to about 65% then friends that wanted to watch go bored and helped bring him down faster. just wanted to see if I could do it, which certainly worked.

Dropped the book first time, which I sent to my mage alt.

I'm currently doing it now completely solo, 17% Almost there! using seal of vengence when I have the mana to make it go faster, figurine works wonders and bubble/gift of the naaru+bandage gets you back up pretty quick.

The guides were alot of help, as last night I solo'd garr, then 4 friends came in and we did geddon/golemagg.. no binding, but did get an ingot.

I just got bored and threw my set together in about 2 nights.. so now that I see I can do this well, will try to pick up some more to put me over uncrush, 740 BV atm too, hits a little through it but was plenty for garr.

edit- Down in 49 min.. No book =/ eh, next time =)

Apparently, I still have a long way to go towards passive uncrushable. (Dang!) If one isn't passively uncrushable, and only has ~400 BV, what sort of healing would I expect to need? Would a shadow priest's healing be sufficient to cover it, or would I need a more dedicated healer?

Granted, I need to level my fishing before I can do this, but I am just trying to plan out what I can reasonably expect to need.
