Soloing Garr

http://www.chardev.org/?template=19967 is the gear setup I used. Better items to use include: ZA boots, badge legs but I was uncrushable with an agi pot so I didn't bother. More block value would have been nice, though I never really got below 90% health with JoL up.

Just as a reference, most sets in this post are going to become crushable when they "buff" the tuskguard which is going to cost over 2% passive uncrushability:

I'm planning on grabbing a Faceguard of Determination with the new +10% block value meta gem to replace it, but I'm still bummed. Sad

Indeed, but I'll happily take a nerf towards my passive uncrushability progress in exchange for a big buff to my actual tanking gear (the tuskguard will replace T4 in my MT set as soon as this goes live).

Just did this last night (finally got the shoulders from ZA to get me close enough to passive uncrushablity), and by FAR the hardest part was actually getting to him. The Garr fight itself is almost anticlimactic, though it was nerve-wracking for me until the adds were all dead, even though I wasn't really in much danger. One pull, one kill... 2+ hours later.

I followed Aalryn's guide, and the part that really tripped me up was the ancient core hound with the long patrol path stumbling across me while I was between invis pots. He wanders all the way up near the entrance and then back down to the tunnel leading to Geddon/Shazzrah, and he gets just close enough to the safe spot on the wall to make it very unsafe unless you scoot as far away from the tunnel as possible. Wish I'd had the presence of mind to take a screenshot of my position there, as it might come in handy to aspiring Garr-soloers.

No bindings though, so I guess I'll get a picture next week.

So I goofed around with this tonight - and came to the same basic path as you outlined Aalryn.

Only problem I faced was his room...

What's the trick to the 3 dogs? (2 pat in front of him and 1 LOOONG pat that caught me in the safe spot a few times) I think I could have timed running thru the middle when they were both off to one side - but they got out of sync and then the long pat came and got me...

Waiting 10min for the Invis pot cooldown seems that I'd need to really be safe in the safe spot - which might mean I totally fail on positioning.

walljump the safe spot? Get as close as possible to the fire elem?

I'm probably going to go in there later tonight for my kill this week, I'll take a screenshot of the 'safe' spot and post it here. Basically it's right on the corner by the elemental as far from the cave as you can get without falling down.

I've been forced to stay Holy for a bunch of garbage, I'll get in there tomorrow and take a screenshot.

Edit: Here's a couple of shots, it should be enough for you to figure it out.

Thanks for the screenshot, thats exactly what Aalryn told me as well. Should be much smoother tonight (I logged out when I saw the dog pat towards me last time, waited 2 minutes, logged back in).

Hrm, if you're actively autoattacking and getting hit, does that prevent auto-afk from kicking in and throwing you offline, or do you need some kind of clickerbot? I'm halfway tempted to run down there and flatten Garr for shits and giggles, but if I have to sit there and play out more than the initial add zerg I'll probably get bored and jump in the lava... and I'm not willing to resort to botting it. Wink
