Question

Ok, hope this post doesn't get too long...

So I was reading this thread and I had a few thoughts on two-tank strats.

When you have a Tankadin and a Warrior in a raid, and you have the Tankadin group pulling and the Warrior taunting one mob off the Tankadin at a time...would it be efficient for the rest of the raid to straight dps the Warriors target till it's dead, let the Warrior taunt off another, dps that one down, let the Warrior taunt off another, etc. until the group is dead?

This sounds like it would keep the raid focused on just one target, therefore they wouldn't inadvertently pull a mob off the Tankadin by targetting the wrong one (even when their marked). I guess I've played with too many dumb dps'ers who don't know how to follow kill orders.

Does it make sense?

I've never ever done anything more than 5-mans so I have no idea what the strats are used for raids. This was just a passing thought really after reading the aforementioned thread. Anyways, thanks for reading Wink

I think it would be a really good idea only because it makes the pulls easier, on the other hand it may depend on your group. If you have a lot of AOE classes with you I have tanked elite mobs and with little problem. This system may be more situational than something to always be done.

DPS that can't follow kill orders (or follow a main assist, whether that be a clueful hunter, rogue, mage, or even tank) don't belong in raids.

Assuming the tankadin can survive the pull, it's almost a waste of time to have the warrior ALSO tanking one -- just have people assist his target, and he can DPS. Generally, if the paladin can hold threat on the FIRST target, the second and later ones are going to have even more of a head start ... so there's no aggro benefit from having another tank grab one and work on it -- it's only if you're spreading damage among tanks. (That probably is a good idea, don't get me wrong.)

Teach the DPS to follow kill orders. Skull, X, etc is common. Eithr chain-BoP or just kick the ones that can't manage that. As a DPS 'alt', I have no sympathy for people that can't do that, less so now that I prefer tanking. I generally pick a main assist, focus them, and then attack whatever they have targeted. On the rare occasions I have something ELSE targeted, the raid icon shows this, and it's easy to swap targets.
