Essential tanking talent unless you want to be dependant on a dps or other tank to provide it. Considering that tanks are not on the same mob in every encounter, you need a dps guy to provide it for you.

5 points in reckoning also adds the ability for it to proc when blocking. Was this taken into account when testing? Wouldnt this mean there is a big difference between 3 and 5 points if you are blocking a lot?

It already procs when blocking. It has since they changed it in BC from being activated from crits to activated from non-avoided attacks. It always proc'ed on partial blocks, which is what bosses do. Perhaps it now allows procs off of full blocks (haven't tested it to see), but you don't typically fully block a boss hit, so there really isn't much to change in his calculation.

5 points in reckoning doesn't add anything to do with blocking in reality. The functionality was always there and for all combinations of points in reckoning.

Actually, when you put 5 points into reckoning, it has a chance to proc off full blocks (not that it matters, as you will never really full block a boss).

Rank 4: Gives you a 8% chance after being hit by any damaging attack that the next 4 weapon swings within 8 sec will generate an additional attack.

Rank 5: Gives you a 10% chance after blocking or being hit by any damaging attack that the next 4 weapon swings within 8 sec will generate an additional attack.

Like I said before, if it does, it doesn't change anything, because...well...we don't fully block boss hits.

Re: Theck's MATLAB TPS analysis (A Jonesy derivative work)

It is interesting that the talent wording changes from Rank 4 to Rank 5 to include full blocks, though. Not particularly useful, but interesting.

Re: Theck's MATLAB TPS analysis (A Jonesy derivative work)

someone might want to check it out but i was running recount,

and under seal of corruption it just shows hits and crits

but theres a category for blood corruption and all it lists is dodge/miss/parries..

did a wws of that to, but wws is not showing miss/dodge/parries, but i am sure it did on recount on the PTR... i'll have to check on it again..

If you can, upload a report to World of Logs, I haven't trusted WWS since WotLK came out.

blah blah wow web stats but a PTR parse of me testing SoV as Ret.

Holy Vengeance is the DoT portion and it lists as dodged. Or they changed spell descriptions and none of the sites have caught up yet.

I went through the log and it looks like only the refreshing of the DoT, or the stacking of it can be dodged, not the DoT tick itself. I'm not sure this is worth modeling in a test at all because as soon as you have a 5stack, you just have to connect with one attack every 15 seconds to keep the stack up.

what exactly is blood corruption? this is just autoattacking the boss dummy for a bit, but that is alot of dodge/miss/parries for w/e it is..
Blood Corruption (Or Holy Vengeance for the Alliance) is the application of the SoV DoT. With the new changes it can now be dodged and parried and is capable of missing. As for why the avoidance rates seem so high, that is because the combat log only shows when it fails to connect. If you divide the amount of Blood Corruption's reported by your melee hits you'll notice the actual rate it was avoided was 12.7%, 7.8% of that being parries, 3.2% misses, and the remaining 2.7% dodges. Actual miss rate is probably a bit higher than these as I doubt all 1125 of your melee swings connected, but you get the idea.

Re: Theck's MATLAB TPS analysis (A Jonesy derivative work)

I wonder, would there be a way to accommodate libram swapping, (and say a .1 second penalty, and reset of the swing timer). I was wondering how much of a threat loss (or maybe even a threat gain) if you were to swap librams like crazy, as there are now 4 fairly nice prot librams in 3.2

LoO 352 block rating (now 10 second uptime, equip before a judge)
LotSS 272 block rating (possibably may be doubled, equip before holy shield)
LoD 200 dodge rating chance on HotR (equip before HotR)
LoV 200 strength (chance on SoV dot tick, equip while another isn't needed)

So a normal 96969 rotation starting off with LotSS equiped would be:

00.0-Cast Holy Shield
00.1-Equip LoD
01.6-Cast HotR
01.7-Equip LoO
03.2-Cast Judgement
03.3-Equip LoV
04.8-Cast ShoR
06.3-Cast Consecration
06.4-Equip LoD
07.9-Cast HotR
08.0-Equip LotSS
09.5-Cast Holy Shield
09.6-Equip LoV
11.1-Cast ShoR
11.2-Equip LoO
12.7-Cast Judgement
19.8-Equip LoD
14.3-Cast HotR
14.4-Equip LoV
15.9-Cast Consecration
17.4-Cast ShoR
17.5-Equip LotSS
19.0-Rotation Repeats

So It basically incurs 1 second of extra GCD from libram swapping, and resets the swing timer 10 times. So as long as you have a weapon under the GDC in terms of swing time, you would get in 12 swings, instead of 19/swing_time (19 is used instead of 18 because the rotation is longer, and more swings could be fit in, if we didn't reset the swing timer so much)

Depending on the procrate, it may not be worth it to equip LoV between Holy Shield and ShoR as it will only be equiped for 1.5 seconds, and therefore only has a chance to proc every other rotation.

Something else to note, you will at most be getting a swing every 1.5 seconds, even during the times where you would keep up a libram for 2 GCDs, you would need a 1 second swing timer to get 3 swings in instead of 2.

Something I'm also assuming is that windfury totem will haste your swing time, but not your GCD's. This rotation would all hinge on getting a weapon swing under 1.5 seconds, which titanguard would fall under with windfury untalented (1.3 seconds or so)

Re: Theck's MATLAB TPS analysis (A Jonesy derivative work)

I didn't think equipping items while the GC is going extends it. I think you are pushing times a bit too far out.

EDIT: It doesn't seem to do that when I test it in game at all. The GCD remains 1.5 seconds regardless of the equip.

Re: Theck's MATLAB TPS analysis (A Jonesy derivative work)

Equiping an item incurs a GCD but does not stop if you are on one, only resets it. So I've found that the slight delay between a /cast Holy Shield /equip LoO will make the GCD a bit longer overall.
